There are so many things to complain about and we often get wrapped up in what’s wrong with my life instead of what is God doing in me and around me in this season. It’s easy to focus on bills, friends, health problems, and relationships. What is really challenging is focusing on what God is doing right now in you and around you. Better yet, what is His purpose for the season you are in right now?
He says to ask and you will receive, knock and it will be opened, seek and you shall find. But it’s followed by if you ask and do not receive because you ask amiss. When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, He cried out for the cup to pass from Him if possible, but that the Father’s will be done in the end. Maybe you’re in a season that is full of heartache and tears, disappointments and frustrations, and all you see is something to complain about. Take a moment and think of what Jesus was really demonstrating to us when He cried out for the cup to pass from Him, that He would not have to face disappointment, rejection, anger, pain, fear, isolation and separation. For Jesus and for you this is just a moment in time, a season to persevere through and best of all, there is hope of victory at the end of it all.
Friend, what if you turned and faced the situation with the courage that Jesus did, with the full revelation of the anguish you feel, and cried out to God with all your heart, mind, and soul, laying it down at the cross, and responding with a “Not My Will, but Thy Will Be Done”. Jesus cried this out with the full knowledge of what He was walking into. Maybe you’re facing a mountain of debt, a broken relationship, health issues that won’t subside, or a dry season of life and you can’t see a way through the situation in front of you. Before you speak a word to anyone, take it to God, pour out your heart, mind, body, and soul to Him, and then submit to His will.
He knows the plans He has for you, they are good and for your good. This process is a refining fire and for so much more than you can see right now. Don’t give up on the process. This is merely a season of growth. It can be hot and dry and tedious without much visible progress, but if you hold fast to the promise, you will see the fruit of the harvest.
